Join us at PDAC 2018 to be part of the EU-Canada Mineral Cooperation initiative

Canada and the European Union (EU) are natural partners in the non-energy extractive industries (NEEI). As the world’s largest importer of metals and minerals, a healthy EU economy relies upon secure, unhindered supply of raw materials. Conversely, Canada is one of the world’s largest exporters of metals and minerals and the strength of its economy is closely tied to global demand for raw materials. Indeed, European manufactured mining equipment is utilized at most Canadian mining operations.

This year at PDAC, the EU will have a booth and will be hosting two exclusive events for senior executives involved in the NEEI:
1) The first event is a seminar, on Sunday March 4th, which brings together a select group of industry participants to explore the benefits and opportunities created by the recent EU-Canada Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA). At this event you will learn about and discuss CETA and its potential impact on the EU-Canada NEEI. The seminar will be followed by a welcome reception for all participants, providing an intimate and exclusive environment to further dialogue and to grow your NEEI network.
2) The second event is the EU Exploration & Mining Day, on Tuesday March 6th. This event is structured in a morning session -“EU-Canada Mineral Co-operation”, where the key findings of the ongoing EU funded project with the same name will be presented alongside with show cases of Mining in Europe, in the context of external market collaboration. The day will be introduced by the EU Ambassador to Canada and followed by presentations from some EU Member States including Finland, Hungary, Ireland, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, and Sweden. The EU Member States will highlight key attributes of the NEEI in their respective jurisdictions and the mining companies will have the chance to network with the Member States’ authorities. In the afternoon session, the European Institute of Innovation and Technologies group on Raw Materials (EIT RawMaterials) will focus on sustainability, innovation and technology, regulation, and integration with the Canadian mining sector. At this event you will learn about NEEI in specific EU Member States and learn about the EIT RawMaterials initiatives. The day will include a networking lunch, providing a unique opportunity to meet key representatives from the presenting parties as well as industry peers.
